When I started this blog I had the vision of getting into the romance world, meeting authors, meeting other bloggers and most of all meeting other avid romance readers like myself.
Since I started my blog I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people and one of them is Aria R Blue. She’s a romance author and I absolutely adore her. I’ve had the pleasure of reading one of her book Knocked up by the beast ( you can find my Review here) and also had the pleasure of interviewing her. From my interaction with her I can tell she’s a really amazing person and I can proudly say we have become book friends.
She shared her love for writing, her writing processes and some writing insights for aspiring authors. I’m so pumped to share my interview with her with you guys
Q1: Okay, Let’s that by you telling me about who you are behind your author persona.
Aria: Sure. So I’m a reader first and a writer second. Reading, especially romance and fantasy, has been my favorite hobby for as long as I can remember. Apart from that, I also love coffee, dark chocolate, and yoga.
Q2:😊 good 👍🏼 when was the first time you thought about wanting to be an author
Aria:Writing has always been an extension of who I am. Even before I thought about being an author, I was constantly journaling and making up stories in my head. And my books are the product of the wild imagination that had to get out of me somehow. 😉
Q3:Are you open to collaborations from other authors? If so which author would you love to collaborate with in future?
Aria:Oh, that’s a tricky one. I think it would be a lot of fun to collab with other contemporary romance authors, but my writing process is very chaotic. I tend to shift the direction in which the story is moving more often that not. So that might complicate things if I write a story with someone else. There are no plans as of yet, but I’m still open to the idea. I would love to work with authors like BB Hamel and Bella Di Corte.
Note: Aria loves Bella Di Corte as much as I do.
Q4: Do you have a writing schedule or do you write whenever the mood strikes?
Aria:Right after coffee, first thing in the morning is usually when I’m my most productive. But I also really love it when inspiration strikes me out of nowhere. In the middle of a movie, the beginning of some song, or between the pages of a book I’m reading. It’s the most wonderful thing about being a writer for me. I love the feeling of feeling inspired by life.Long conversations with my favorite people always leave me feeling that way. Same with working out and getting sweaty (as weird as that sounds).
Q5: Do you use any thing from your personal life in your books?
Aria:Absolutely. I take all of my friend’s problems and turn them into plot points (don’t tell them I said that). I also use my own real life emotions and give those to my characters to add a raw quality. I think that when you’re writing about something that’s close to your heart, it definitely shows. Especially in genres like romance. There’s something empowering in knowing that other people can relate to what you’re writing about. All the struggles it takes to get to a happily ever after, that’s just real life.
Q6: You just published a new book Knocked up by the Beast which I absolutely loved, what inspired you to write it?
Aria:I’ve always wanted to write a Beauty and the Beast retelling, since it’s my favorite fairy tale of all time. I think it’s especially relatable to readers because Belle is this misunderstood heroine who just wants to read all day. And the Beast is a mystery man (and who doesn’t love a growly giant who’s a teddy bear for the girl). I find the witch’s curse and the magical elements fascinating. ‘Knocked Up by the Beast’ is the first book in a series called ‘Kingdoms’. The next story is going to be based on ‘The Little Mermaid’.It’s very exciting to mix magic with mafia romance.Balancing the light and dark makes it so.I guess I’m just a big kid lol. And I know I’m not the only one.
Q7: What is your favourite part of the writing process?
Aria:Okay, so have you seen Pixar’s new movie ‘Soul’? It describes the process brilliantly. The flow state. It’s this mythical highly-sought after land that feels like you’re transported to another world entirely. It’s when I feel most connected to the story I’m writing, and that’s always a good thing.Apart from the flow state, I also love spending hours looking at Pinterest boards for “inspiration”.
Q8: Do you have a favourite author that you have been inspired or influenced by ? If so what kind of inspiration and influence have you gotten from that author?
Aria: I have so many. I can’t just pick one. But two of my all time favorite author’s are Jane Austen and Taylor Jenkins Reid. I love how they write about real-life everyday day problems that people, espcially women, face. And they spin that into a brilliant story. Like the protagonist in Reid’s ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’. She was faced with a real problem in her time(no spoilers if you haven’t read it yet, but if you have, you know), and we get to watch how she faced it all. There’s something courageous and heartbreakingly beautiful about these kinds of real-life stories that are as much reality as they are fiction.
Q9:What advice do you have for young authors just starting out or dream about publishing their first book ( someone like me 😊)?
Aria: My advice would be to start small (as you’re already doing with blogging). I went from short stories to novellas to novels. Consistency is really important as well. Writing a little bit every single day can go a long way.Even if it’s just a few hundred words every day, it will add up. And don’t overthink it (the #1cause of most headaches). Trust the process. ⭐️
Q10: If you could travel anywhere to write for a time where would you go?
Aria:Love this question. I’m a sun baby, so I’d definitely go to a tropical island somewhere. Bali or Hawaii. Beach views and late afternoon swims. I don’t know if I’d get much writing done though 😂
I had a lot of fun interviewing Aria and I hope you enjoyed the interview too. Aria is the author of Knocked Up By The Beast which is the first book in her Kingdom series, We await the release of Book two which is based on the little mermaid.
If you love fairytale retellings and Mafia Romance you will love Knocked Up By The Beast.
