Ash, Jace, and Gabe: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Ash, it’s the woman who changes everything he’s ever known about dominance and desire…
When it comes to sex, Ash McIntyre has always explored his wilder side — extreme and uncompromising. He demands control. And he prefers women who want it like that. Even the women he’s shared with his best friend, Jace.
But Jace is involved with a woman he has no intention of sharing. And now even Gabe has settled into a relationship with a woman who gives him everything he needs, leaving Ash feeling restless and unfulfilled.
Then Ash meets Josie, who seems immune to his charms and his wealth. Intrigued, he begins a relentless pursuit, determined she won’t be the one who got away. He never imagined the one woman to tell him no would be the only woman who’d ever drive him to the edge of desire.

Burn is the finale of the Breathless Trilogy and even though I took my sweet time finally picking up the third book in the series, I honestly had such a good time with this one here. I will admit that the cost of the ebook at the times was so PRICEY…..at $12 but then I saw a huge price drop a few weeks ago to 1.99 and I just knew that I had to grab it up. Because yeah that is expensive for a ebook (but that is a whole other discussion LOL) And I will mention that I actually had such a good time with this book, it has some elements that might not be for everyone especially BDSM and a very possessive alpha male, so fair warning.

Burn is a story that begins with our hero, Ash McIntyre. He is the last of the three friends to find his lady. He is feeling disconnected from his friends, as they are both in love and happy, and just feels like the fifth wheel and doesn’t really understand how elements have changed in their relationship with each other. But then while taking a walk in the park, he comes across a woman who draws his attention in a way no other woman ever has. And he wants her and seeks to capture her attention. Josie is an artist, and a submissive in the bedroom. She is captivated by the attention of Ash and doesn’t know where their relationship is heading, but she is more than open to the possibilities of what they are building together…but both Ash and Josie will be tested in their love….

Burn was such a fun read and I had such a blast with this page turner of a read. One aspect of Maya Banks style of writing is how easy it is to get into her books, I never have to worry about immersing myself into the worlds that she creates, she has the ability of drawing you in. I was kinda nervous to read this one, because Ash is a bit unknown in the type of relationship he would have. Lets just say you gotta like the kink to enjoy this one. We definitely see Josie and Ash go into the journey of a dom/sub lifestyle in their relationship but I was so drawn into their connection to each other. And despite some the actions that Ash does take especially in the beginning of the book, I definitely could see the appeal of the story and this style of relationship that is built here.

We do get a portion of the plot that does have a more suspense type take and so that really adds a unique element that I was into and found myself intrigued into it. In the later half of the book, the “villain” despite enjoying the entry of it, found it kinda weird, that other than the first book, there is no build up of his character so its like he is just there all threatening LOL so it didn’t seem to quite fit into the story seamlessly so I think that is the only aspect I would have changed. It wasn’t really needed, and it felt like it was used as a “filler” for the plot. But it might work for some other readers.

Overall I found Burn to be a sexual enlightening and vibrant romance that will curl the toes and will add a deep emotional intimacy that was intense in every way.

About Maya Banks

My name is Maya Banks and I live in Texas with my husband and three children and our assortment of pets. I’m more of a cat person, but my daughter became convinced she NEEDED a dog. So convinced in fact that it became her mission to convince her father and me. She prepared a two page handwritten proposal that detailed WHY she needed a dog, and well, after I sent her to her father (I knew he wouldn’t tell her no) we embarked on the search for the perfect dog. The journey that was two hours away and that I got pulled over for speeding while I was on the phone with my agent who had an offer from a publisher for one of my books… The officer wasn’t impressed. He wrote me a ticket anyway. Thus, I now tell my daughter that her dog turned into one very expensive concession! But isn’t he cute?

When I’m not writing, I love to hunt and fish with my family. We all love the outdoorsMaya’s Dog and go on family hunting trips every year. We also love to travel. One of our more recent trips was to Scotland, which was every bit as comical as National Lampoon’s European Vacation. You know the part about “Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament” as they went round and round the roundabouts? Yeah, that was us, only we couldn’t even get out of the airport in Glasgow without hitting three of those suckers.

Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of a writing career is getting to meet so many wonderful readers. There’s nothing better than dishing books with someone who loves the romance genre as much as I do. Romance readers are passionate and vocal. We love our books, love our happily ever afters, and we love to spend time talking to others about our favorites. THIS is why I love my job so much, and I’m so grateful to readers who gave ME a chance when I began my career. So thank you.
