THE STRIKE OUT by Meghan Quinn
Release Date: January 4th
Genre: Contemporary Romance

It started with one night out with the boys.

She was the hot diner waitress putting herself through school.

I was the rich, arrogant player everyone misjudges.

On paper we didn’t match.

Yet all it took was one day. One single day to change her mind.

She wasn’t planning to spend her day off with me.

She wasn’t supposed to fall for my charm.

But one day, one smile, turned into several nights of her calling out my name.

I’m not the guy she should end up with. I’m jealous, possessive. Not here for a long time – just a good time.

She’s changed me.

But, for some reason, I feel her slipping through my fingers and no matter what I do, I fear I’m going to strike out with the one and only girl I’ve ever fallen for.

My Review

What a way to ring in a new year of reading. This is the first book I’m reading this year. I really haven’t been in the reading zone since this year started but damn did this book set me in the right zone. I’m so glad I picked this book to read first I almost skipped it for another book but I change my mind.

I never thought I would say this but what a matured college sport romance. Holt is the most emotionally matured college hero I’ve ever read about not to talk about him being athlete. I’ve been looking forward to a book like this. No matter how I love reading about jaded bad boy heroes Holt was a breath of much needed fresh hair. Both set of parents in this book were absolutely lovable and they all had good relationships with their children. Before I read this book I didn’t know how badly I needed to read a romance , filled with characters with normal relationships and not dysfunctional ones

I didn’t for one moment think Holt was an arsehole or a jerk and man is that hard to find in a sport college romance or romance book for that matter. Where can I find me a Holt because I need a man like him in my life 😍😍. He was so caring, thoughtful , witty and when he made mistakes I still absolutely loved him. Yeah sometimes he was a caveman with harmony and made some choices that put his health at risk. He made some mistakes in their relationship but he was so damn sweet you can’t help but swoon. Holt Green completely stole my heart and that is what a good romance book is capable of doing. Giving you characters that you form a bond with.

I know all these ravings about holt might make you think that I didn’t fall in love with harmony as well but that is so not fucking true. I absolutely loved her and her background reminds me so much of mine. A lower middle class family where you have to struggle for some things in life. I loved her zeal to get transcend from where she came from. Her determination and hard work was so inspiring it got me thinking about a lot of things . She was certainly so strong and I adored her. I loved her relationship with her mom, it reminds me so much of my relationship with mine. She was a little weary about going into relationship with Holt because of her past, but I loved how holt broke down her walls. That man can certainly get into any woman’s ehem heart. At first she saw only Holt’s wealth and background and judged him for it, but when she got to know him and accepted that he was a really good guy, their relationship progressed quickly. I know when everyone reads a romance they keep waiting for that big explosion where shit goes wrong I kept waiting for that point and when it came it took me by surprise because I wasn’t expecting it to happen like that. Did I forget to mention harmony’s wit and their banter? Well it was absolutely 🔥 fire 🔥 and the sex scenes were smoking.

This book just took me by surprise and I couldn’t get enough of it. Man, Meghan Quinn deserves a round of applause 👏 . I’ve read most of her books ( they are really good by the way) and this one certainly didn’t disappoint . I loved seeing the whole baseball loft crew again , very lovable guys. The strike out is one of the sweetest book I’ve read in a while. This is an example of a well written romance.
